Royal Marines and Military Preparation

One of the sayings surrounding the Royal Marines is “99.9% need not apply”. The 32-week course to become a Royal Marines Commando is arduous and unforgiving, both physically and mentally. Yet, men and women across the country still strive for a collective goal. To be one of the few that earn the honour to wear the coveted green beret.

Since starting my career as a Royal Marines Commando, I have had the personal honour of taking two troops through that 32-week course as a physical training instructor. In the past years, I have also physically prepared multiple individuals who have gone on to earn the green beret. Through this, the intensive training I completed to become a PTI, and my 32-week course at the beginning of my career, I can confidently say I know what is needed PHYSICALLY to succeed at Lympstone. I can provide that, but it’s up to you to have the correct state of mind.

CrossFit

I began my journey with CrossFit in xxxx, and to this day, it holds a significant place in my life. While traditional gym routines often focus on isolated exercises, the approach of CrossFit combines elements of weightlifting, gymnastics, and high-intensity cardio. This synergy builds a well-rounded and functional fitness level, improving strength, endurance and V02 max. This was paramount for my career in the Royal Marines, keeping high, practical levels of fitness to handle the intense nature of my role.

My competitive CrossFit journey has taken me to international stages, including competing in the Marbella Championship, all through CrossFit Isca, where I have had the pleasure of becoming a level 1 CrossFit coach. This deepened my understanding of fundamental CrossFit methodologies and coaching techniques. This combination of experience and formal training uniquely positions me to guide you. Whether you are new to CrossFit or aiming to excel in competitive arenas, I can help you achieve your CrossFit goals.

Endurance Training

Endurance, specifically cardiovascular endurance, isn’t just about competition – it’s about supercharging your everyday energy, enjoying physical activities and living a healthier, happier life. From the demanding standards of the Royal Marines, CrossFit competitions abroad and the Great West Run Half Marathon, my endurance stands as my powerhouse.

Maybe you’re aiming for a sub-2-hour half marathon. Perhaps a 22-minute 5k, or you may want to live a healthier, more vibrant life. Whatever the goal, the correct training will make all the difference. Possibly, you feel stuck, unable to reach that goal despite your hard work against an uphill grind. What if you could make 1-2 years of progress in just six months? I have coached numerous people, from those running the London Marathon for the Institute of Cancer Research to those now achieving sub-19-minute 5k’s. My experience with myself and others has proven the formula for improvement. Success hinges on two vital elements: specific aims in your training and consistency. Forget the frustration of endless, unrewarding runs. Let me streamline your training, giving you what you need to join the fast track towards your goal.

Rehabilitation and Injury Prevention

Since xxxx, as a Physical Training Instructor and Exercise Rehabilitation Instructor with the Royal Marines, I’ve not only trained but aided the rehabilitation of numerous lads injured in training. I’ve successfully guided many through their recovery, tasked with reducing their downtime and optimising their return to training, leaving them stronger and more prepared. From simple sprains to shin splints, I have gained extensive experience in injury and recovery.

The best part? I know the most common injuries, how they are happening and how we can stop them, solidifying my expertise in rehabilitation and injury prevention. With a focus on technique, strength, balance, and mobility, whether you’re currently facing an injury, recovering from one, or keen to avoid future setbacks, I offer tailored solutions designed to create a robust baseline with steadfast rehabilitation. Together, we can recover, prevent injury and build a more resilient body ready for any challenge.
